Extra places at Accrington and Rossendale College
ACCRINGTON and Rossendale College bosses have negotiated £200,000 extra funding which will pay for up to 100 extra places.
The college, which now has a £700,000 grant to fund higher education courses, was the only education institution in Lancashire to be allocated additional money.
The 24.5 per cent increase by the Higher Education Funding Council for England was also the highest percentage increase in the North West and was the fifth highest additional sum in the country.
The Government body has not specified where the extra funding should be used but the college said it would focus on the needs within the local community.
The college offers higher education programmes in most subject areas, including health and social care, media and business.
The courses are validated by universities such as the University of Central Lancashire, Liverpool John Moores, the University of Bolton and the University of Huddersfield.
